The pricing concept that the 3S use is the sales oriented concept as the 3S is trying to maximize its sales as much as possible. This is because; the 3S intention is to help in making the students life at their campuses easier and better.
The van that the shuttle service uses is mostly a second hand van that had been leased by the company prior to the introduction of the service itself. Therefore, the price of the van is much cheaper. However, the van is sent to the workshop for modification hence the cost of modification cost is a bit expensive as the workshop had to redo back the cushion, air conditioner, radio and the engine. Hence, the 3S might have to charge more to cover back the cost of modification of the vehicles. After the modification the price of a van is RM 42, 000 and the company has 5 vans altogether.
That explains why the fare that the shuttle service charges is much higher than most transportation service. Then comes the petrol, it is estimated that one van will spend at least rm130 for petrol every 2 days.
